సుందరకాండ.
అథ షష్టితమస్సర్గః||

శ్లో|| తస్య తద్వచనం శ్రుత్వా వాలిసూనురభాషత|
అయుక్తం తు వినా దేవీం దృష్టవద్భిశ్చ వానరాః||1||
సమీపం గన్తుమస్మాభీ రాఘవస్య మహాత్మనః|

Hearing those words of Hanuman , Vali's son spoke. 'Vanaras, though Sita was seen, going to Rama without Sita is not proper'.

శ్లో|| దృష్టాదేవీ న చాఽఽనీతా ఇతి తత్ర నివేదనమ్||2||
అయుక్తమివ పశ్యామి భవద్భిః ఖ్యాతవిక్రమైః|

'I see it as inappropriate. As powerful as you are, saying that we saw Sita and did not bring her back is not appropriate'.

శ్లో|| న హి నః ప్లవనే కశ్చిన్నాపి కశ్చిత్పరాక్రమే||
తుల్యః సామరదైత్యేషు లోకేషు హరిసత్తమాః||3||

'O best of Vanaras, there is none among Devas or Daityas who can equal us in our strength or in our ability flying in the sky'.

శ్లో|| జిత్వా లంకాం సరక్షౌఘాం హత్యా తం రావణం రణే
సీతామాదాయ గఛ్ఛామఃసిద్ధార్థా హృష్టమానసా ||4||

'Killing Ravana in the battle along with all Rakshasas and conquering Lanka, we rescue Sita, achieve our goal and come back happily'.

శ్లో|| తేష్వేవం హతవీరేషు రాక్షసేషు హనూమతా|
కిమన్యదత్రకర్తవ్యం గృహీత్వా యామ జానకీం||5||

'Hanuman has killed many of those Rakshasas. What is the task left other than bringing back Sita?'

శ్లో|| రామలక్ష్మణయోర్మధ్యే న్యస్యామ జనకాత్మజామ్|
కింవ్యలీకైస్తు తాన్ సర్వాన్ వానరాన్ వానరర్షభాన్||6||

'Let us bring back Sita to be in the middle of Rama and Lakshmana. Why so many words. No other Vanaras are necessary'.

శ్లో|| వయమేవ హి గత్వా తాన్ హత్వా రాక్షసపుంగవాన్|
రాఘవం ద్రష్టుమర్హామః సుగ్రీవం సహ లక్ష్మణమ్||7||

'We can go kill the Rakshasa warriors, then see Rama who is with Lakshmana and Sugriva'.

శ్లో|| తమేవం కృతసంకల్పం జామ్బవాన్ హరిసత్తమః|
ఉవాచ పరమప్రీతో వాక్యమర్థవదర్థవిత్||8||

Jambavan then spoke affectionately with meaningful words to that best of Vanaras, who made up his mind on the course of action.

శ్లో|| నైషా బుద్ధిర్మహాబుద్ధే యద్బ్రవీషు మహాకపే|
విచేతుం వయమాజ్ఞప్తా దక్షిణాం దిశముత్తమామ్||9||

'Oh, great Vanara, the thought that is being projected by you is not appropriate. We were ordered to go in the Southern direction in search of Sita'.

శ్లో|| నానేతుం కపిరాజేన నైవ రామేణ ధీమతా|
కథంచిన్నిర్జితాం సీతాం అస్మాభిర్నాభిరోచయేత్||10||

'Bringing her back was not mentioned by the king of Vanaras or sagacious Rama. Gaining victory in some way and carrying her back may not be liked'

శ్లో|| రాఘవో నృపశార్దూలః కులం వ్యపదిశన్ స్వకమ్|
ప్రతిజ్ఞాయ స్వయం రాజా సీతా విజయమగ్రతః||11||

'Raghava himself took a vow to gain victory and bring back Sita'.

శ్లో|| సర్వేషాం కపిముఖ్యానాం కథం మిథ్యా కరిష్యతి|
విఫలం కర్మ చ కృతం భవేత్ తుష్టిర్న తస్య చ||
వృథా చ దర్శితం వీర్యం భవేద్వానరపుంగవాః||12||

'How can Vanaras go against that ? Any action in opposition will be a failure and will not lead to happiness. The courage shown in doing so would also be a waste'.

శ్లో|| తస్మాద్గచ్ఛామ వై సర్వే యత్ర రామః స లక్ష్మణః|
సుగ్రీవశ్చ మహాతేజాః కార్యస్య నివేదనే||13||

'So we will all go to where Rama and Lakshmana are, and report to them what has been accomplished'.

శ్లో|| న తావదేషా మతి రక్షమానో యథా భవాన్పశ్యతి రాజపుత్త్ర|
యథా తు రామస్య మతిర్నివిష్టా తథా భవాన్పశ్యతు కార్యసిద్ధిమ్||14||

'Oh Prince, though your suggestion is appropriate , my mind does not agree with that. We will find what is in the mind of Rama and act in way to ensure victory'.

ఇత్యార్షే శ్రీమద్రామాయణే ఆదికావ్యే వాల్మీకీయే
చతుర్వింశత్ సహస్రికాయాం సంహితాయామ్
శ్రీమత్సుందరకాండే షష్టితమస్సర్గః ||
